Im not into farming. I work for most of the day and play for an hour or 2 daily. So Im not really affect by all these nerfs. The previous online game Im in encourage endless hours of gameplay/botting to get enough money to get uber-elite armors, weapons and etc. THAT is the reason I move to GW, which promotes skill based gameplay over time spent. So farming nerfs doesnt bother me at all.

However, for those of you who have more time to spend, I understand the need to work for a goal :P So Im thinking maybe Anet can introduce more quests or missions that gives out gold and items as rewards. Im not sure how the botting works but perhaps Anet can introduce mission or quests that you have to complete beforehand each time that allows access to good farming spots.

I've been playing since the release and did some falrming but not to much. I realize what kind of effect they're trying to have on the economy. Yet still some people need the gold in order to get the armor or weapons we want.

I Really do agree with this. Hell, the econemy for this game is a big OUTRAGE! It's more like selling a max dmg Fiery Dragon sword for 5k. Or even a crappy shield for 10k.

But the side effect in the bringing back the normal farming would be that everyone would have everything. From this to that, to that to this. It would still be just as hard to make money that way as well... Then again, we want that good o' farming route back =D SO WE DONT HAVE TO SPEND 13,405,871,0345K ON A GOLD BOW!!!

i also have my 2 cents to put into the penny jar

aesthetics may be cool but funtion is cooler, im a ranger, when i get home from work for lunch, it will be lvl 20, im 95% there

i see people selling eternal bows/storm bows that are normal, not even mod'ed for 10k-up

when i see this i just laugh at them and say why should i buy your crappy bow if mine is so much better?

all they can say is, "um.." "ah...." "because it looks cooler..."
when i read this i fall out of my seat laughing, but what is funnier is if they leave

people, you don't need a storm/eternal to be godly, find a good collector bow, which run about 1k or if you actually trade in the items for the bow

after you have your kickass bow
15-28
15%>50%

now you have got a bow that is better than a storm/eternal and you saved 9k+ doing so

if that alone isn't good enough, do what i do, get a really crappy bow, with nice mods, then get the mod and put it on your good bow

my bow went from
15-28
15%>50%

to

15-28
15%>50%
+1 energy on hit
-1 energy regeneration
+1 Marksmanship (15%)

now when i show my bow to sum guy selling storm/eternals all they can say is again... you just need to buy it cause it's cooler

people people buy your cool items if you want, but they won't be cool for long, then you will wish you hadn't spent all that money on a useless item

anyway my 2 cents

Heh yeah I remember Swords of Yakesha in Everquest used to be like the god sword of the origional game. 10k for 1 of them was the going price when "new", then "EXPANSIONS" started coming out and newer and better stat drops started to appear and the poor SOY ended up selling for 50plat lol 50 plat. So, being a smart mmorpg player, I'm going to wait on the new expansion and get me an even BETTER weapon than what is in the game now (I just know they will make new and better and "kewler looking" weapons for the expansion).

I too don't go for looks, I'll never buy 15k armor until it has "better stats" than the 1500gp armor. I'll never pay 10k for a silly looking item just because "it looks kewler". I do not live in a world of "vanity", but, a world of competition, therefore, as long as all that I have is competitive with anyone else, I don't care what it looks like.

Many people are whinning for "easier loot system or go back to old system" cause they want this "vanity look" of the game, it's something that is NOT necessary and therefore the set looting system is just fine to be "competitive" within the game. You want to "look kewl" pay the price, which is "time and patience" and a lot of farming.

This is one of the very reasons for "Star Wars Galaxies" failure, they gave into the "whinners and complainers" who wanted an "easier" route to JEDI status, well they gave it too them, then nearly anyone and everyone was a JEDI and it no longer had any "uniqueness" to the game, and hordes just quit playing. When you destroy the challenge and make things too easy, then your destroying the game. Let the "few" who want easy loot and more rare drops to be less rare quit, you'll keep the majority of your "hardcore" fanbase and for the most part the majority enjoy "challenge" and being "unique". As soon as you take that away from them, you'll lose them instead and have only the crybabies and whinners left.

Sonya you've ignored most every decent post in this thread, yeah you're happy with the game fine, we know. We know you're happy with it. Great, I'm happy for you. But obviously, a good amount of people got pissed off.

I'd also like to remind you that whiners got you people faction points, whiners got loads of bugs fixed, whiners are the reason you still get XP for PvP battles.

Whiners have helped make this perfect game you enjoy so much, Sonya, whether you choose to acknowledge it or not people have to let people know what they think, so problems can be fixed and better solutions can be found.

I would respond to the rest of your post, but it's obvious you'll remain close minded to any other opinion than your own.

Just know that whiners are the reason the game is the way it is, if you enjoy the game you've got some whiners to thank for it, because it's when the people complained that things got changed to the way they are now. So I suggest you quit whining about whiners, and go enjoy GuildWars 'eh?

Showing all of the item's last sale price seems reasonable. Could be misleading (if it hasn't sold in three weeks), but probably a good idea.

the monk runes are a good example of this. i do think anet is doing a good job of controlling their prices w/o interfering too much. last night at 3 am ET smite and pro sups were at 22k. i woke up this morning and saw them back at 14k. players are not the ones dropping the prices. no one is going to sell the runes to merchants when they can charge 2-3 less than merchant and make a killing. anet has a hand in there some where controlling prices as much as possible.
There is definitely some limit there. If nothing else, prices can't rise above 100,000. =)

You never have to spend that on a gold bow. The most expensive item that actually makes a large difference in gameplay is the Droknar Armor. Other than that, everything can either be gotten off a collector (weapons, shields, focus items, wands, staffs) or you can buy the upgrade components off a player for a generally small sum (barring perfect mods) or get it off a scrub item. Runes can be a bear, but you can almost always get major runes on the cheap, and the difference between a major and superior is generally small.

Untrue, they said from the near beginning that they would make a fair way to allow PvPers to unlock things by playing PvP. Whine Whine Whine Whine Whine, who the hell cares!? Who cares about Whining/Whiners? I hope to GOD Anet doesnt care, because indeed SWG was awesome but then they made it easier and people left. If they made GW too easy, people would unlock everything in the game and then get bored. Once people get bored they get something new.

Honestly if you look at it, Nerfing the game to close "Exploits" has not made anyone leave. While back in the day, farmers selling things for crazy prices made me quit for a while. I couldnt farm, so i quit because it was near impossible to get anything. I then found out Farming was nerfed. I then came back to play and i enjoyed the game much more because? Because people werent selling things for 100k anymore..(and i had a good 60k saved up in my vault ehhehe)

The game concept has been explicit from the start. The fact of the matter is ther is a large group of you out there who cannot bring yourselves to learn a new style of play i.e. one that isnt item orientated. I loved Diablo2, but this game is different, new and refreshing. So please stop and think before you moan!!
A sword with perfect mods will not save you....armour will not save you...your skills will. I told a guy last night from my experience last night when he asked about what to mod his axe with (very new to the game) what was the best. There is no best some are better than others for different things. the best weapons in the game wont compensate for a crappy build. The weapons accentuate a good build...they make it better, but if the build is not good then the weapon won't help period! If you want proof go to the damage calculators and play with weapon damages....that one more damage (if that) wont change the fact that the creature has 600 health that much....

The game is not about items it is about skill... I agree...people who complain about droknars armour early on, or that there are not enough gold drops. I like normal items....my biggest complaint with diablo II was that your items made you, not your attributes, and not your skill set. The nerfing as everyone is so want to put it, is not a bad thing...i have never had a hard tiem making gold from selling quest rewards...in fact i got my droknars armour with out having to repeat any quest more than twice (a few times my group was killed) Through doing quests and taking time, I made all the money i need. I finished the game with knights armour, a crappy shield and a collectors sword...and just so you don't come back and say that this was before the nerfing i have done it twice afterward.
so what happens if we do up the drop rates....everyone has money and then complains that there are no sinks. It shouldn't be easy, but it also shouldn't be important....i can still pull down a kilogold or two an hour if i just walked around...come on....is this really that important ask yourself that or maybe it is just that fact that there was something that for a while created an over zealous expectation of what was due...also if there was less gold then maybe its value ass associated to items will change too....aka people wouldnt sell something for 10k if they did not think there was a buyer for it.

I'm just now getting to parts where the good drops would be. (I know I'm slow). And I'm hearing of weapons going for over 100 k. The nerfing has separated people quite well. The rich and the poor. The rich have the money and good items and can keep them amoungst themselves. While here I am, and the rest of the poor, wondering how the hell that 200 K whatever it is could ever be bought. I mean I'm all for working hard to get the money. But not really this hard. I'd just like to make some money to get that 1.5 k armor, which I'm close to having, and maybe getting a guild hall, cause there's no way I'm winning HoH.

The other thing that I Dont understand is the concept of poverty in this game. If people are so poor, then why are items selling for stupidly high amounts of money. Move out of the cities go to the rural areas for a while things are alot cheaper when people aren't making as much money (there is this nice place in upstate new york i can direct you to). People also seem to argue about haves and have nots as if this were a discourse about the diacotomy between egaliterianism/ socialism and lassie faire (cant spell it sorry) capitolism. I feel almost compelled to ask "Who is John Galt". Maybe we should unlock the game into dev mode like baulders gate and give ourselves any weapon we want....that would fix it wouldnt it....everyone will have anything they want, and all the gold they nees. then people will complain they want better. Or that they want different. The game would become ever more boring as now there is even less of a challenge, there would be no need to work for the armour. HELL it would even fix the WTB WTS spamming....there would be no point. SEE TWO BIRD WITH ONE STONE. Two chipmunks with one woodchipper. Why should anyone care how much gold the 'other' rich people have....if they didn't buy it off ebay or get it through botting....they sat at the keys and did it by hand. Hell if this nerfing thing is half as bad as you say....you should admire them for their effort. Everyone would be so boringly equal. think of all the time it would save to. then people would complain that there is nothing to do and go play world of warcraft...right now i am doing FoW groups to get shards for the Fissure armour....that is the literally only thing i have not gotten...i like the challenge....i love being in groups with an ever changing array of people....yes some deserve castration with a dull blade for pulling all the patrols on us....but it is a challenge. I mix it up i try different things because my skill points aren't set in stone. Do I really care if someone is wielding a barbed Longsword of Fortitude +15% dmg h/50%, NO i care that they dont seem to have the right skills to use it...is it gold or purple or any other pretty colour....HOW SHOULD THAT MATTER...I think we should make all drops gold....every single one...aww hell i have gotten some blue drops that were better than gold....when you look at it...a collectors sword with 2 mods could make the same weapon.

Whats the point of playing if you can't farm to get the best weapon. They nerf everythin cuz maybe they don't wanna upset the PVP players. Anyway, this game is gear toward pvp and rpg is sorta like a small side quest. Seriously, if you can go from level 1 to 20 is one day, then I can't consider this a real rpg game.

i havent read every single post, but i doubt pie xags ever stated GW wasnt made with emphasis on PVp, and i dont know about chrisby, but sonya has a tendancy to only read what she wants in a post even if it isnt whats written . i may be wrong, but show me the post if i am. and just because the game was built with an emphasis on pvp doesnt mean pvp is/should be the only part of the game to get upgrades/better play/better methods of play. both parts should get equal attention...and so far that just hasnt happened. ive already stated this on another thread on another forum, i dredged through past updates, not a single one IMPROVED PVE LOOT/GAMEPLAY. and when i say that dont get on here thinking your all smart posting up yeah they fixed exp glitches and blah blah, that is not improving loot or gameplay. im talking improveloot/gameplay like faction to PVP or getting experience for doing the same thing over and over and over... technically if you think about it, pvp characers are just EXP/faction farming. all PVP chars do is go into a battle get xp and faction for whatever you get it for and then repeat. and i believe the term farming means something along the lines of "...doing the same thing repetitiously to get ahead in the game or to gain an unfair advantage over other players". well, hate to break it to ya, but thats all pvpers do. so i think i just shut down every pvpers argument, now to deal with the pesky "farmers ruin the ozone and everything under it people"
